1151 - the castle is attacked and burnt in the Welsh uprising
1215 - Llywelyn the Great captures the castle
1220 - castle is repaired and a stone curtain wall built by John de Braose
1251 - castle attacked again
Castle eventually abandoned and fell into ruin

This castle is very small, but worth a visit, especially if
you’re in the area. It is well preserved, has some nice views and would make a
good picnic spot too!

Car parking is free, by the river, just off the A484 roundabout (access to the castle is gained by walking up Ferry Road and crossing main road).
